Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation Quiz

Complete the quiz below which tests your knowledge of what constitutes intrinsic vs. extrinsic motivation. For each of the five questions, label the motivation that is described as "intrinsic motivation" or "extrinsic motivation":

1. I learned to ride a bike because my best friend learned to ride and encouraged me to.

2. I learned to drive because I wanted to visit my friends without needing to ask my parents for a drive.

3. Given the choice of four school project topics in Grade 7, I chose the one that looked the most interesting to me.

4. I chose to attend Brock University because the recruitment officer I spoke with was so helpful and convincing.

5. I am studying to a become a teacher because I feel good inside when I help a young person learn something new.
