During Week 14, students are introduced to the fields of educational and developmental psychology. Psychology and educational psychology are defined and a brief history of the field of educational psychology is chronicled. Discussion then turns to the field of developmental psychology and the importance of the nature vs. nurture debate. The cognitive developmental theories of Piaget and Vygotsky are summarized. The week ends with three important caveats which connect this week's content to the upcoming topic foci of Weeks 15 and 16.
