Week 20 introduces the discipline of educational philosophy. The four philosophies of education which are the focus of Weeks 20, 21, and 22 are briefly introduced, as is a table which compares and contrasts them. The philosophical foundations of the 'disciplinary initiation' philosophy are summarized with reference to a short reading and video. Examples of the philosophy's influence on K-12 education in Ontario are described. Students choose an Ontario elementary or secondary curriculum document within which to look for evidence of the 'disciplinary initiation' philosophy.
