Week 5 focuses on teaching as a professional occupation. The role of the Ontario College of Teachers, which self-regulates the teaching profession in the province, is introduced. The Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession and the Ethical Standards for the Teaching Profession are reviewed. Students link the Standards of Practice and/or the Ethical Standards of Practice to the qualities exhibited by their favourite teachers. Students also browse the extensive library of Professionally Speaking magazine issues at the Ontario College of Teachers website.
