Introduction

Drawing on statistical data from Statistics Canada, Week 9 introduces the concept of educational equity. The sociology of education as a disciplinary field within educational studies is then explored. With reference to the textbook and other readings, education related issues related to gender equity, socio-economic status, and anti-racist education are examined. The week closes with a historical overview of the ways in which Ontario's educational system has supported students with special needs.
